Respite Care Services in Calgary
Our Respite Care Services
In-home respite care can be short-term or long-term relief for you as a caregiver. Here’s how we can work together:
- Start by booking your free, in-home consultation with one of our Registered Nurse Care Managers.
- We’ll meet with you and discuss your respite care needs. Maybe you need someone to come every day for a few hours, or need 24 hour care for a short period of time while you vacation or go through a busy time at work.
- We’ll put together a custom care plan that works best for you and the person who needs care, including matching you with a professional Health Care Aide (or Aides) who will be the right fit.
Respite care services can include:
- Assisting with eating, showering, and going to the bathroom
- Providing health care support, such as managing medications, assisting with physiotherapy, and coordinating with health care providers
- Homemaking, such as cooking, light housekeeping, laundry and more
- Companionship: chatting, doing hobbies together, reading, watching tv, and more
Safety and comfort are always our priority. Your caregiver will support safe mobility, routines, and fall-prevention at home. And if a caregiver match ever doesn’t feel right, we’ll adjust quickly until you feel fully at ease.
Common Respite Care Situations We Support
Many families reach out for respite care during moments when caregiving becomes especially demanding. We can help if you need:
- Dementia or Alzheimer’s respite: A trained caregiver provides calm, familiar support while you rest or handle other responsibilities.
- Post-hospital recovery respite: Safe, supervised help at home after surgery, illness, or injury.
- Overnight or weekend respite: Reliable coverage when you need uninterrupted sleep or time away.
- Caregiver vacation coverage: Short-term, 24-hour support so your loved one stays safe and comfortable while you travel.
- Ongoing scheduled relief: Weekly or daily respite to prevent burnout and keep caregiving sustainable long-term.
Transitions into long-term care: Respite can start short-term and evolve into ongoing home care as needs change.
